Lavender Kite Audio Research Hour w/ OpenEnd

OpenEnd is the hybridized output of multidisciplinary artist Reece Anderson (he/him). This producer, DJ, visual artist, and curator has formed his niche through a decade of contributions to the local and regional scene around his home base of Calgary, Canada (Treaty 7 Territory). His sonic palette has steadily expanded through exposure to new sounds and reflection inward, pulling inspiration from both sides of the Atlantic. Throughout his productions and DJ sets, he deftly fuses themes of techno, bass, breaks, footwork and contemporary jungle. With these materials, he creates hypnotic atmospheres resting somewhere in the liminal space between organic and synthetic percussion. His solo and collaborative releases have garnered support from J:Kenzo, Sun People, The Librarian, Anna Morgan, Yorobi and Jaskin & Uneven. As a DJ, his skilful cuts and layered blends form unexpected explorations which have earned him performances at notable events such as Bass Coast, Shambhala, Sled Island, AEMCON and more. Outside of his audio and visual creations, Reece has a deep love for nurturing the underground community. He is the co-founder of the Radiate event series and co-host of The Lighthouse on CJSW 90.9 FM every Thursday from 22:00-23:00 MT.
