In Focus: Milford Graves
Exploring the kaleidoscopic creativity of New York-born percussionist, artist, researcher, herbalist, and martial artist Milford Graves. He played a central role in the development in avant-garde jazz alongside Albert Ayler and the New York Art Quartet, and is considered an nigh-mystical figure to many who knew him. Graves passed away in February 2021.
This episode was made possible by Milford Graves' close collaborator, composer/filmmaker Jake Meginsky, who generously shared live recordings and segments from his film "Full Mantis".
