El Jhonky, el profeta de la champeta (The Prophet of Champeta) was an iconic figure of outstanding poetry and melodies developing a new style in the 2000s champeta. El Jhonky recorded mostly with the Picó el Gemini and even managed to perform in Venezuela and the U.S. He was tragically shot and killed but his legacy all still live on today
