Tim Koh
On 11 April 2022, Tim Koh was a guest on All Styles All Smiles. Tim Koh has been played on NTS in shows including Maria Somerville , featured first on 3 September 2019. Songs played include Everyday, Please Don’t Go and Fall Into Your Dream.
There are two artists named Tim Koh:
1) Tim Koh is an American multi-instrumentalist, composer and visual artist, and member of Ariel Pink's Haunted Graffiti. Tim was born and raised in Los Angeles, and attended the California Institute Of The Arts. He now lives in Amsterdam.
Over the years, Tim has collaborated and played with many other artists, including Jorge Elbrecht, Gang Gang Dance, Gary War, White Magic, John Wiese, and many others. He cites bands like Can, Faust, The Shaggs, Lee Scratch Perry, Merzbow and Masonna as influences.
Tim hosts "Kokonut Trip", a show on London’s NTS Radio and has launched the label Congee Disc.
2) Tim Koh is an artist from Singapore. After discovering his aptitude and passion for music at the tender age of 6, Tim has never looked back and has always aimed to be not just a good musician, but also a good performer. Jamming and singing along with friends was fun, but he always yearned to do something more.
After secondary school, Tim attended Nanyang Academy Of Fine Arts to study Theatre where he specialized in acting. This background became a foundation for him to improve as a more confident and expressive stage performer.
During his teenage years, Tim formed a band known as “ellipsis”, which enjoyed much success as a young cover band, and performed at many local events and venues. As Tim grew up, he took a more serious view toward music, and signed up for guitar lessons, as well as music theory classes.
Realizing that music, just like Theatre, is a form of art and that “feel” is just as essential as having good technique, Tim enrolled himself in Lasalle College Of The Arts to study Pop Music Performance.
Also a song-writer, he aims to release a mini album of some of his original tunes later this year. Mixing up his favourite genres, Tim’s originals are hard to pigeonhole into one particular genre.
Armed with a strong belief that hard work is the key to success, he delivers his music with only one goal in mind.. To touch the hearts of those who listen.
