Frederick Delius

Frederick Delius

Frederick Delius has been played on NTS in shows including Tafelmusik w/ Francesco Fusaro, featured first on 9 August 2020. Songs played include On Hearing The First Cuckoo In Spring, A Song Of Summer and Three Piano Preludes No. 2.

1.) Frederick Delius (1862 – 1934) was an English composer whose musical style is characterized by chromaticism, although it is still largely tonal with luscious harmonies - mainly slow moving, with the frequent use of leitmotifs and constantly evolving melody. Orchestral excerpts from his operas, for example La Calinda from Koanga — which originated in the 1880's Florida Suite — and The Walk to the Paradise Garden from A Village Romeo and Juliet, are also reasonably often played and recorded, as are orchestral works such as On Hearing the First Cuckoo in Spring.

2.) Starting his career in 2015, Quinten van Aalst, known as Delius, is sharing his vision of Hardstyle embodied in atmospheric, melodic and hard Hardstyle tracks.

After playing gigs such as Bass Protocol, Daylight Festival, Decibel Outdoor Festival and Intents Festival under his old alias ''No-Nonsense'', Quinten is known for delivering diverse and energetic Hardstyle sets. With his act ''Delius'', bringing his own sound to a higher level, it's time to keep an eye out for new collaborations, stages and more.
