This episode of Japanese Jazz Week we explore the catalog of pianist Masabumi Kikuchi. Masabumi was born in Tokyo in 1939, and lived his early life in World War II and post-war Japan. He studied music at the Tokyo Art College High School, and worked with musicians such as Sonny Rollins, Miles Davis, Mal Waldron & Joe Henderson. Senida Hajdarpašić, known by her stage name Senidah, is a Slovenian singer-songwriter of Montenegrin origin. Senidah rose to prominence as a lead singer of the Slovenian pop band MUFF. She acquired regional popularity following the release of her solo single "Slađana" in March 2018. In March 2019, she released her debut solo album Bez Tebe, entirely in Serbian. The album was followed by a string of commercially successful singles such as "Mišići", "Kamikaza" and "100%". In 2020, Senidah dropped her two droplet singles; ‘Ko je’ and ‘Piješ’, both song were successful. As of 2021, she dropped another two droplet singles; ‘Replay’ and ‘Balkanka’. Replay gained social media app ‘TikTok’ attention and quickly became one of her many more successful songs.
