The Huck-A-Bucks

The Huck-A-Bucks

The Huck-A-Bucks has been played on NTS in shows including Creep Zone w/ James Pants & Marc Schaller , featured first on 15 June 2020. Songs played include Get Down and So You Think We Can't Groove.

Huck-A-Bucks: Joseph "Lil Joey" Timms (rap vocals); Charles "Ricky" Yancy, Lamont "Ray-Ray" Ray (vocals, percussion); Rob "RJ" Folson, DeCarlos Cunningham, Lorenzo Wiliams (keyboards); Felix Stevenson (drums); Sequan "Quan" Jones (congas, percussion).

This group is also being nudged along by a go-go long-timer; the Hucks are managed by Charlie Fenwick, who used to handle Hot, Cold Sweat. Unlike the Groovers, the Hucks emphasize the classic early-'80s go-go sound. The percussion is right up front, and not just in "The Congo Drum Mix." All of these tracks are party tunes, and the most fun may be the count-along "It's Time (64x's)." Fenwick--or someone--has taught these musicians well: The liner notes give thanks "to all the parents who constantly brought and picked us up from the band practice." -Alona Wartofsky Washington Post Staff Writer
