1) A Modest Proposal (AMP) existed between 1983-1993 and was a New wave, electronic, alternative pop band. Bert van de Grift, Ton Coolen, Ludwig Adriaansen and Nicolet Theunissen, made a LP (‘A Modest Proposal’ - RBD 0100) in 1987. Later, Ludwig left the band and the remaining AMP members made a CD (‘Contrast’ - ANWO/BAR 999) in 1991. They played amongst others with Steven Brown, Neppy Noya, and Marco Bakker. Although ‘famous in Utrecht, The Netherlands’, the big breakthrough never happened.
2) A Modest Proposal formed in 2017 as a fresh take on emo and post-hardcore. Their genre-bending sound has a defined, yet unfamiliar feeling. They combine ambient jazz and rambunctious power chords with bombastic vocals. While they smother you in sound, their lyrics touch on themes of vulnerability, melancholia, and acceptance. The band is comprised of Brandon Bertinotti (vocals/guitar) Darin Harger (drums/percussion) Mason Bradley (vocals/bass). Silly (single) 2023 - “Silly” serves as an anthem of redemption: when one makes it "so close so far" as "fingers trace scars," both success and fear take form. Infused with a dominant groove and eloquent vocals, it is realized we "can't go back there," as the "pain is too much it's grave." Instead, we tell ourselves "I'm here to stay." It’s “Silly” to think we can’t live our dreams. Solera (EP) 2022 - An embodiment of metamorphosis: coming to grips with the harsh realities of adulthood after struggling to find oneself through adolescence. Solera is the mix of old and new - an attempt to stay grounded: Arson sets the tone as a consistent problem that is ever-growing with the environment; Earthbound calls back to the past, but is ultimately realized as it looks toward the future; Moon Waves speaks of connection, love, and trying better oneself to uphold these values; and My Shell tells the continuous struggle of isolation and discomfort within one’s skin.
