Pat Wells

Pat Wells

Pat Wells has been played on NTS shows including The Do!! You!!! Breakfast Show w/ Charlie Bones, with Mountain Memories first played on 28 April 2020.

Pat Wells wasn't looking for a career. This rich dude started the Sail Records label in 1976 to put out a tepid self-titled SSW album. He decided to keep the label going and looked for talent and quickly found Wells. He gave her a once in a lifetime opportunity to work with Boston's best session players, and got a more than worthwhile addition to the Sail catalog, another record that went nowhere. (A third release also went nowhere and that was that.)

Wells' unpolished, perhaps lazy, maybe sexy vocals contrast with the polished, often jazzy backing. Her unabashedly sentimental, nostalgic sentiments about New England conjure images recognizable to anyone who ever lived there. Wells says it's about "nature, my small town background, the seasons, different people I have known."
