Thank

Thank has been played on NTS shows including Whirldfuzzz, with Think Less first played on 2 March 2020.

Thank is a noise rock band based in Leeds, UK. The band was formed in 2016 through CHUNK, a co-operatively run venue and rehearsal space. Lewis Millward, Cameron Moitt and Freddy Vinehill-Cliffe previously played together in Pink Rick, and when that band dissolved they were joined by Jack Gordon (also of Irk, who shared the same rehearsal space). Theo Gowans (also known as Territorial Gobbing) joined soon after, and in 2019 Rob Slater took Jack Gordon's place. Unlike Pink Rick - who played guitar-focused music inspired by The Jesus Lizard, mclusky, Slint and similar - Thank incorporates elements of electronic music and harsh noise.

Thank's first live performance was on the 2nd of May 2016 at the Brudenell Social Club, with Bad Breeding and Goat Girl. Since then they have gigged consistently, including multiple tours of mainland Europe. In October 2017 Thank's first EP Sexghost Hellscape was released on cassette via Cruel Nature Records, and it sold out in less than 48 hours. The EP was featured in The Quietus' New Weird Britain roundup at the end of the year. Subsequently, Thank released a split cassette single with Blóm via Hominid Sounds in September 2018, and a second EP Please in October 2019 on 10" vinyl via Buzzhowl Records in the UK, and EXAG' Records in Europe.

In 2021 the band self-released Thankology, a CD compilation of all their releases up to that point, in order to raise studio funds for their debut full-length LP. Thoughtless Cruelty was released via Box Records and Exploding In Sound in February 2022, immediately followed by another lineup change; Steve Myles of Cattle and Groak replaced Rob Slater on drums. Since then the band has gigged much more frequently, including UK tours supported by Pure Adult and Penance Stare. The album appeared in various end of year lists, including Loud & Quiet's Albums Of The Year.
