Javier Hernando is an ambient artist from Barcelona, Spain. He worked under the names Melodinamika Sensor and Sinusoidal, was in a short-lived band XEEROX and collaborated with different artists.
1981 - 1985 After the break up of XEEROX Javier started a programm called Los Silencios de la Radio (The Silences of the Radio) on the radio PICA. He did sessions of auto-training of the audio-signal feedback on bio-information machines at the Cybernetics Institute of the Barcelona. He stayed for some time in London, contacted members of the local experimental electronic scene and collaborated on spanish-speaking TV programme La Edad de Oro (The Golden Age) which was dedicated to SPK. Founded a cassette label Ortega y Cassette with Maria Dolores García and Angel Lalinde. Only five tapes were released on it: La Otra Cara De Un Jardín (La Otra Cara De Un Jardín, 1982, reissue), Untitled (Melodinamika Sensor, 1983), Violines Y Trompetas / Una Fuente Inservible and 581 (Camino Al Desvan, both 1984), and Eg -1 (Esplendor Geométrico, 1985, reissue).
1990s The programme Los Silencios de la Radio broadcasts started again with Andrés Noarbe's co-operation. Collaborated in the musical installation Temps de Pas (Tempo of Steps) by Chema Alvargonzalez at the Galery Carles Taché in Barcelona. Worked with the band Mohochemie (Rosa Arruti and Manel Pugés). Wrote chapters Retrospección de Disonancias (The Retrospect of Dissonances) and Nebulosos Mecanismos de Retrotecno (Nebulous Retrotechno Mechanisms) for the book accompanying the exposition Alter Musiques Natives. Compositions from the album Bruma Caústica were used by Traveler, Newcleus and Da Costa on their sound recreations for the old films Planet of the Vampires (Mario Bava) and Sans Soleil (Chris Marker) which were presented at Volkbühne and the Bethanien Open Air Cinema in Berlin. Made a soundtrack for the presentations Microgama: Lunette Chromium (Sala Radar, Madrid) and Geometrik Vibrational Pflegekammer (Abaixadors Deu, Barcelona). Collaborated with Nad Spiro on the album Vs. Enemigos de Helix.
2000 - Present Participated in the festival LEM-2002 with the sound composition Scope Lichstpiel which was based on the text of Thomas Pynchon, first from the series Audio Animatronics Medium. Participated in the conference organized by Anòmia in the CCCB (Centro de Cultura Contemporánea de Barcelona), Als límits de la perifèria (AIs' boundaries of the periphery) with Jaime Gonzalo, Daniel Sedcontra and Raül G. Pratginestós.
