in march 2008, six gynecologic oncology surgeons from across the united states formed a band, n.e.d. or "no evidence of disease" the name of the band represents the hope that every gynecologic oncologist has for every patient. . . that at the end of treatment, their disease will be gone. the band began as a cover band, a novelty created to provide entertainment to fellow physicians at medical conferences dedicated to improving cancer care for women. what n.e.d. has become is a movement, a belief that communication through music can heal as well as entertain and can educate the world about an unspoken killer - gynecologic cancer. while over 80'000 women are affected by gynecologic cancer in the united states each year, vary little public discussion exists and most families do not know what the signs and symptoms of gynecologic cancer are or how to treat them. to begin "the conversation" n.e.d. composed original music and teamed up with motema music, a new york-based record label to record, market, manufacture and distribute n.e.d.'s message. the cd you are about to listen to has been blessed from the beginning and represents the efforts of too many to mention.
