Fernando Alvaro comes from Buenos Aires, Argentina and is known as Big Head.
Big Head has been DJing in South America for over 15 years and producing since 96. Initially producing an array of different musical genres, it was apparent after a while that he just could not turn his back on cutting edge house music. Call it what you will, deep prog, tech-tribal, one thing is abundantly clear; this music is quality, which ever pigeon hole you choose. Driving bass-lines, sublime percussion and a little bit difference ensures that Big Head tracks feature in the fussiest of DJ boxes – including James Zabiela, Hernan Cattaneo, Lee Burridge, Deep Dish, Danny Tenaglia, Chris Fortier, Satoshi Tomiie….the list goes on.
Since the late 80’s, Big Head have been playing twisted percussive house and breaks to crowds in excess of 4000 people, playing in clubs and festivals along side some of dance music’s legends such as Mr C and Massive Attack. Often praised for their understanding of crowds, Big Head always seem to have a track under their sleeves that can change the mood of a crowd and often do at Buenos Aires night spot ‘Big One’ – aptly named due to the venue holding 5000 people (yes, these clubs still exist).
Key Discography: ‘2604’ – Big Head (2002 Sinister) ‘Luv Liv’ – Big Head (2003 Sinister) ‘Dark Side of the Peace’ – Big Head (2003 Sinister) Licensed to X-MAG compiled & Mixed by James Zabiela ‘Birth Of Smurf’ – Flashpoint – Big Head Mix (2003 Sinister) ‘Shimauta’ –Alfredo Casero –Big Head Goalkeeper Remix (2003 Sony) ‘Tren del Cielo’ - Soledad - Big Head Heaven Remix (2003 Sony) ‘5 Fathoms’ – Everything But The Girl (Big Head Mix) (White 2003) ‘Escape’ - Enrique Iglesias– Big Escape Remix (2003 Universal) ‘Spiders’ – Vinny Troia (Sinister Recordings) – Big Head Mix (2004 Sinister) ‘Beautiful’ – Big Head (2005 Sinister)
