Sumru Ağıryürüyen is a singer and mandolinist
Singing in different styles from rock to traditional, and in many languages from Armenian to New Zealand language, she tries to search the limits of her own musical language. She travels in the world with different musical projects, and participated dozens of recordings since 80’s. Her solo album ‘Issız/Solitude’ has been released under the label Kalan Music recently.
Additionally, she has two other albums (Ayde Mori and Balkan Journey) with her Balkan Journey Group. Singing mostly in the projects of kanun master Göksel Baktagir, oud master Yurdal Tokcan and with the amazing Turkish music group Istanbul Sazendeleri, she prepared a project with Baktagir, comprising the music of different ethnicities in Turkey, and another project with songs from different continents, ‘Breath of the Earth’.
With Furtuna project she sang Hadjidakis songs with prominent Turkish and Greek musicans. As a member of ‘Three Women’ project, she had sung love songs from different ethnicities in Turkey. She performed Sephardic, Klezmer music with different groups, and musicians in several festivals. She is one of the guest soloists of the Tekfen Philharmonic Orchestra, a mosaic of friendship and peace brought together by musicians from 23 countries.
She sang with Yinon Muallem Ensemble, in various projects and albums. She ishttp://en.wikipedia.org/skins-1.5/common/images/button_headline.png also the music director of Gitarcafe [1], an exceptional music center in Istanbul, and the organization director of ISCMS [2], an international music festival. Together with three other musicians, she composed the music for Autumn, directed by Ozcan Alper, and they won Best Soundtrack Award at the Angers Film Festival [3] 2009 (France).
