Imán, Califato Independiente

Imán, Califato Independiente has been played on NTS in shows including Image Search, featured first on 11 September 2019. Songs played include Tarantos Del Califato Independiente.

See Imán Califato Independiente.

Symphonic/progressive rock band from Spain formed in 1976 by Iñaki Egaña (bass), Manuel Imán (guitars) from the band Goma, and Kiko Guerrero (drums). In 1977 keyboard Marcos Mantero joined them.

With the band closed, the chosen name was: Imán Califato Independiente.

The first, "Imán Califato Independiente", is an experimental mixture between instrumental symphonic rock and etnic sounds. It contains the 20-min suite "Tarantos Del Califato Independiente". The album was acclaimed by the critics, and throw them to the road in an intense period of live shows, in spain as in european countries as france or deustchland. In 1980 the band record "Camino del Águila", another great work. The band apparently split on 1982.

In 2006, due the 30 anniversary of the band's birth, they released a live album that contains their great "Tarantos", two live improvisations and an unreleased song, all stuff from theyr 70's shows.

On 2007, they return to doing some concerts on Andalucía; and now they are going to play, at least, on Festival Lago de Bornos 2008 and 20th of september closing the Bienal de Flamenco de Sevilla.
