Alice Hubble

Alice Hubble

Alice Hubble has been played on NTS shows including Anthony Chalmers, with Lake Louise first played on 10 September 2019.

Alice Hubble is the project of Alice Hubley (one half of Arthur & Martha). She describes this new project as as 'the product of one lady locked at home with an enormous collection of synthesisers.'

The debut album 'Polarlichter' was released in September 2019. Layered with vintage synthesisers and mellotron, the album presented a soundscape of pastoral solace, far removed the urban sprawl in which it was conceived. Born out of a desire to work on a project away from the traditional song writing process, the album was inspired by the 70’s recordings by Tangerine Dream, Ashra and Mike Oldfield (particularly the records he made with his sister Sally). 'Polarlichter' is in many ways a distinctly feminine take on the 70’s progressive synth sound. The recordings were completed & mixed at Big Jelly Studios in Ramsgate, co-produced by Mikey Collins.

The debut single ‘Goddess’ was picked up by BBC6 Music with plays from Lauren Lavern, Gideon Coe and Steve Lamacq who made it his 'Lamacq Livener.' After interviewing Alice he declared Goddess his 'Song of the Year So Far' and featured it in his Best of 2019 show. Further 6 Music plays followed for 'We Are Still Alone' and 'Kick The Habit' along with play on RNE in Spain, NTS, Amazing Radio and college radio stations in the US. Alice also featured in numerous publications including Prog Magazine, The Quietus, For The Rabbits, God is In the TV, The Electricity Club, Louder Than War and Electronic Sound who gave her a four page feature and featured Alice in their Best of 2019 list and cover CD. Live shows include supports for Damo Suzuki, Advance Base, Pram and Beak> as well as shows in Germany and France.

Alice's second album 'Hexentanzplatz' released on 10th September 2021. The album offers nine more tracks of lush electronica, with a shift towards a classic electronic pop sound. The first singles 'Power Play' and 'My Dear Friend' have received radio play from Steve Lamacq, Lauren Laverne and Cerys Matthews on BBC 6 Music, play on Radio Wales from Janice Long and from digital and local stations including NTS and Amazing Radio.
