Maurice Jaubert (born in Nice, January 3, 1900 - died at the hospital of Baccara, June 19, 1940) was a French composer. Although Jaubert was also a classical composer, he is mainly remembered for his numerous film scores.

Jaubert wrote for some of the most important French films of the thirties. These are a.o. 'Zéro de conduite' and 'L'Atalante' by Jean Vigo,'Quatuorze Juillet' by René Clair, 'Un carnet de bal' and 'La fin du jour' by Julien Divivier, and 'Drôle de drame', 'Hôtel du Nord', 'Quai des brumes' and 'Le jour se lève' by Marcel Carné.

On September 2, 1939 Jaubert was mobilized. Even at the front he kept on composing. But on June 19, 1940 he was fatally wounded at the front in Azérailles and died a few hours later at the hospital. (source: the french wikipedia)
