The Journeymen has been played on NTS shows including Country Hayride, with 500 Miles first played on 28 February 2016.

The Journeymen are a folk-group active in the first half of the 1960's. The band consisted of John Phillips, Scott McKenzie, and Dick Weismann. John and Scott had been boyhood friends and were involved in projects together. When they met Dick Weismann in early 1961 the formed The Journeymen. They signed a contract with Capitol records after playing clubdates in Greenwich Village. They recorded three albums for Capitol untill the group disbanded in early 1964, due to internal struggles. Afterwards, John Phillips toured with an outfit named the New Journeymen, before forming the Mamas & the Papas with his wife Michelle. Scott McKenzie enjoyed a huge hit with "San Francisco (Be Sure to Wear Some Flowers in Your Hair)". Dick Weismann also kept recording and wrote a history of folk music called "Which side are you on".
