FM: We think a lot about murmur, what Du Bois calls “the murmur of ages,” and we think about murmuration, that amazing shift of social formation that birds do in the air. SS: Like over Brighton pier. FM: “Murmuration” is a cool word because it bears the trace of the sound. It’s beautiful when you watch those movements, but it’s even more beautiful when you hear them. The internal differentiation of the swarm is absolute wealth. Extract from Refusing Completion: A Conversation Fred Moten, Stefano Harney, and Stevphen Shukaitis

Raised in Fort Lauderdale, Florida : Floorkilla, grew up with the sounds of Miami Bass and Hip-Hop. At the young age of 8, he acquired a cassette tape titled "Electric Breakdance" (1984), which introduced him to the world of breakdancing and electro, two of the hottest up and coming elements of Hip-Hop at the time. He began practicing and battling with the kids in the neighborhood and soon took his street skills to the dancefloor in many night clubs throughout the years. In 1994, he discovered The Edge, a nightclub which had never ending late nights with the unheard of sounds of Ambient, House, Breaks, & Electro. Dancing along with the members of the infamous "Fever Crew Dancers" and part of the "D.O.A." crew, he developed the respect for the underground scene of South Florida.
Over the years, Floorkilla focused on the intricate sounds of the scene and his passion evolved to creating subsonic beats that makes the dancefloor move with killa' styles. Now Floorkilla is ready to unleash his creations of sick beat sequences and body moving hooks. Check out Floorkilla's sound of electrobreaks, produced with his South Florida flavor.
