Claudio Zoli

Claudio Zoli

Claudio Zoli has been played on NTS shows including Radio Jiro, with Livre Pra Viver first played on 7 January 2019.

Cláudio Francisco Santos Silva (São Gonçalo, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil May 13, 1964) better known as Cláudio Zoli is a Brazilian singer and songwriter. He was lead singer of the band Brylho

Biography

Cláudio Zoli grew up listening to soul music (Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder, and Brazilian / soul singer Tim Maia) and started singing and playing the guitar as a boy. His professional debut was at the age of 17 in Cassiano’s band, who would become his guru. In 1982, with his voice and guitar, Zoli helped found the band Brylho which, the following year, broke through nationally with the song "A Noite do Prazer".

The band ended in 1985 and, in the following year, he would be releasing his first solo album, "Livre Para Viver". Three years later, Zoli was successful again when Marina Lima recorded "À French", a partnership with the singer's brother, Antônio Cícero. Later, Elba Ramalho recorded his "Urgent Happiness". His career as an interpreter, however, started to not go so well, and in 1993 he joined the group Tigres de Bengala (with Ritchie and Vinícius Cantuária). In 1999, Zoli resumed his solo career (interrupted for eight years) with "Férias", an album in which he added elements of rap and R&B to his traditional soul-funk-samba
