There are several bands with that name and some others named Hoax:
1) The Hoax is an English blues rock band.
2) The Hoax was an English punk rock band.
3) The Hoax is a Czech hardcore band.
1.) The Hoax is a blues rock band founded in Wiltshire, England, active from 1991 through 1999. The band consists of Hugh Coltman (vocals/harmonica), Jon Amor (guitar), Jesse Davey (guitar), Robin Davey (bass), and Dave Raeburn (drums) later to be replaced by Mark Barrett (drums).
After releasing two albums on the Code Blue label (formerly part of Atlantic Records), the band left to form its own label, Credible Records. On Credible Records, they released two more albums (as well as an EP) before disbanding in 1999. The members continued making music though, e.g. as The Davey Brothers or solo. 2010 they started a reunion tour with new song material and released a live DVD from that tour.
Album Discography:
1994 - Sound Like This (Code Blue/Atlantic) 1996 - Unpossible (Code Blue/Atlantic) 1998 - Humdinger (Credible Records) 1999 - Live Forever (Credible Records) 2010 - 2010 A Blues Odessey (Credible Records)
2.) The Hoax. This English based Punk Rock band released their first 4 track 7" record in 1979 called "Only The Blind Can See In The Dark". Within the next three years they released two multi track 12" EP's "So What" & Quiet In The Sixpennys". The bands last release was the totally classic "Blind Panic" 4 track 7" EP in 1982. All records were self released on the bands own Hologramme Music label. The band split soon after this release and a few of the members went on to be Emergency who released the really good "Points Of View" 7" on the Riot City Record label in 1983. A Compilation of all the Hoax recordings was released on CD by Detour Records entitled "And So It Went 1979 - 1981". http://www.punkdomain.com/hoax/thehoax.htm
