From a press release:

"Spectral Empire are Kyle Martin and George Thompson – two disco obsessives who have been recording in the darkness of their North London underground bunker over the past 12 months to bring the sound of darkness to the dancefloor. Their influences are telling: from the weird horror prog of Goblin and John Carpenter, to the Teutonic rhythm of Kraftwerk, to modern electronic pioneers such as Château Flight, Quiet Village and Zombi. The leitmotif? A strange proclivity for the cosmos.

Their debut will come as no surprise then; sounding like a nihilistic-ritualistic party, marching to the beat of a thousand zombies. This narrative begins with The Minotaur: a throb, a growl and a slow burning sub-100 bpm drum line begin the descent into this solipsistic darkness. It loops along in terror until an incumbent space rock guitar line - seemingly summoned from the apocalypse – crashes in on the rhythm. The weird juxtaposition adds urgency & grandeur, and what emerges is one horror of a tune.

Innerfearence ups the tempo with a sense of eagerness, the constant sound of a whip crack and an arpeggiated synth line that push things on until we appear to meet the Minotaur again. A pause for breath and then it's onwards to the end where we appear to hear the untimely demise of something or someone. Who knows? In an age of ease and accessibility this is a package for the more adventurous.

Nothing is true.

Everything is permitted.

Spectral Empire's debut album will be released in 2009 alongside remixes from Chateau Flight and Der Rauber Und Der Prinz.
