Copernicus

Copernicus

Copernicus has been played on NTS in shows including Nite Jewel, featured first on 7 September 2018. Songs played include Victim Of The Sky and I Won't Hurt You.

Copernicus (artist/musician): Copernicus, born Joseph Smalkowski, is an avant-garde musician based out of New York. He has self-published at least eight albums of spoken-word content with music in the background. Some of his songs are improvised, while others are written beforehand. One thing common to all of them is that he writes no music; all the musical accompaniment is improvised by hired musicians. His music features many recurring themes, including atoms, the idea that nothing really exists, and that humans are no greater than anything else in the universe. He has worked in the past with Bix, a well-known Lithuanian band, and several musicians who played on his albums would go on to form the Celtic rock band Black 47.

Discography: Nothing Exists (1985) Victim of the Sky (1986) From Bacteria (date unknown, compilation featuring songs from the first two albums) Deeper (1987) Null (1990) No Borderline (1993) Immediate Eternity (2001) (A Spanish version of this album also exists) Immediate Eternity II (2005) (A German version of this album also exists)
