A monthly transmission of displaced rock n roll, exotic punk and early electronics, paying favor to all things primitive and sleazy. LA visual artist Amanda Siegel delves into the international underground, offering a thorough sonic survey of protopunk, hard rock, synthpunk, powerpop, psych, industrial and more.
Welcome to LXXXVIII – the ninth Actress album to be created by Darren Cunningham and the very first presentation of Actress’ voyage into luxury sonics. A lifetime in the making, LXXXVIII is the culmination of 25 years’ honing mind-shorting, soul-igniting audio infusions for dance floors, rave dens, festivals, and concert hall, and the inaugural vessel for Actress’ cruise into novel strata of artistic influence: the executive suites, yacht decks and private jets of our planet’s ultimate power players.

DJ BEWARE
Born in Hong Kong he was destined to become a pro skater but after having abused every abusable urban obstacle the teenage vandal found a bunch of new toys and tools to max the pleasure or the pain (depends on whom you ask). To the surprise of his neighbours (u call that music!?) after a few years the young Mixmaster was also decorated with an official title: Hong Kong Technics DMC Champion 2001.
Next year at the DMC finals at Brixton Academy he made heads nod as he incorporated Michael Jackson, Britney Spears, the Soundtrack to Dirty Dancing and Screaming Jay Hawkins in his highly entertaining set. Beware has toured Europe, South America, Australia and Asia; no one ever complained.
Despite a hectic gig schedule Beware still manages to show up sharply dressed and smelling good on weekdays to host his own mixshow Unlimited on Radio FM4 in Vienna.
Beware is a versatile dude who feels Rio Baile Funk Beats, London Grime, the Angolean Kuduro Drums, juicy Baltimore Breaks, sparkling Bling HopÉ good music with bass and beats from all over world. More importantly he feels what the people want. Beware played a blockparty under a highway bridge in the north zone of Rio de Janeiro where nobody had heard of him and managed to make thousand people dance to his sound.
Not content with just spinning other peopleÕs tunes, Beware decided to get into making his own tunes and remixes. Some of the first few unofficial remixes that he did of Dizzee Rascal, MIA, Saigon and Arctic Monkeys have been played by the likes of Crookers, Kissy Sell Out, DJ MK and Stereo MCs. In 2008, Beware was picked up by the piping hot label Man Recordings to release two of the best selling records on the label - Tamborzao Con Scratchy and Rio Baile Funk Breaks. Later on this year, Beware will join the ranks of Diplo, Feadz, The Count and Sinden by putting out his own EP as part of the prestigious Funk Mundial series on Man Recordings.
Beware has kicked off the Year of the Ox with a remix of super indie rock rap outfit Mongrel; and a mixtape, together with Brixton bombshell MPHO, called The Art of Pop. A large part of 2009 will see Beware either tearing the club up on his own or performing in venues with the likes of MPHO, Mr Hudson, Mongrel. Look out for him in a city near you!
