Andrés Lewin-Richter

Andrés Lewin-Richter has been played on NTS shows including Organic Music Tokyo w/ Chee Shimizu, with Fontecilla Mix II first played on 29 August 2018.

Andrés Lewin-Richter Ossiander was born in Miranda de Ebro, Burgos (Spain) in 1937.

He studied industrial engineering at the Polytechnical University of Catalonia and received a Fulbright scholarship allowing him to complete his studies at the Columbia University, New York where he worked between 1962 and 1965, being assistant of Vladimir Ussachevsky, Mario Davidovsky and Edgar Varèse at the Columbia Princeton Electronic Music Center, where he created his first electronic compositions.

In 1968 he founded the Estudio de Música Electrónica of Barcelona and was director of the Conjunt Català de Música Contemporània, between 1968 and 1973.

As a composer he specializes in electroacoustic music, and has composed instrumental works for and music for ballet, theatre, cinema, videos. Lewin-Richter has created electroacoustic compositions in the studios of the Columbia University (New York), Fundación Phonos (Barcelona), Alea and CDMC (Madrid), GME (Cuenca), EMS (Stockholm), Hochschule für Musik of Basle, Switzerland, and the University of Aveiro (Portugal).
