Marina Rosenfeld has been played on NTS over 30 times, featured on 37 episodes and was first played on 14 June 2013.

Marina Rosenfeld is a New York-based artist and composer. Her work has been at the forefront of experimental practices in sound and performance since the 1990's, when she mounted her first all-female electric-guitar ensembles under the name Sheer Frost Orchestra. Her works are known for a complex integration of notation and improvisation as the basis for sculptural interventions into monumental and/or resonant spaces, and a conceptual approach to the deployment of loudspeakers, bodies and musical forms.

Her work has been presented at numerous institutions, festivals, and museums, including the Museum of Modern Art, Guggenheim Museum and the Park Avenue Armory in New York; the Whitney (2002 and 2008), Montreal (2016), Liverpool (2011) and PERFORMA (2009 and 2011) biennials; the Holland Festival, Tate Modern, Stejdlijk Museum, Vienna Secession, Wien Modern, and many others. Projects in 2017 included solo exhibitions at Portikus (Frankfurt) and the Bard Center for Curatorial Studies (New York), as well as commissioned works for “Every Time A Ear Di Soun: documenta 14 Radio" (Athens and Kassel), and Donaueschingen Musiktage (Germany).

Rosenfeld has also performed as an experimental turntablist since the late 1990's, creating improvised music with a distinctive palette of hand-crafted dub plates. Her collaborators have included Christian Marclay, George Lewis, Okkyung Lee, Ikue Mori, Annette Henry aka Warrior Queen, Ben Vida, DJ Olive, and Christoph Kurzmann, among many others too numerous to list. She has also frequently created music for dance, including improvised music for Merce Cunningham Company between 2004 and 2008, and works for the choreographers Ralph Lemon (Scaffold Room, 2014-15), Maria Hassabi (PLASTIC, 2016; STAGED, 2016-17; and STAGING, 2017) and Douglass Dunn.

Rosenfeld has taught widely in both music and fine arts departments, including the Sculpture program of the Yale School of Art, Visual and Environmental Studies at Harvard, Sonic Arts at Brooklyn College and Dartmouth's Bregman Center for Electronic Music and has lectured on her work at institutions in the US, Europe and Australia. She has been a faculty member of the Milton Avery School of the Arts at Bard College since 2003 and has co-chaired its department of Music/Sound since 2007. Her own degrees are from Harvard (BA in music composition) and California Institute of the Arts (MFA jointly in fine arts and music composition). Her recordings appear on Room40 (Melbourne), Innova (Minneapolis), Charhizma (Vienna) and Softl (Cologne). Her writing has appeared in Audiocultures: Readings in Modern Music, 2nd Edition, Artforum, Arcana 2 (edited by John Zorn), and Paper Monument, among others. Rosenfeld is a 2011 recipient of a "Grants To Artists" award from the Foundation for Contemporary Arts, as well as honors and support from NYSCA, NYFA, the Park Avenue Armory, STEIM, EMS Stockholm, and Dia/Beacon.
