Uninamise

On 3 August 2018, Uninamise was a guest on Martha. Uninamise has been played on NTS shows including Precious Metals w/ EndgamE, with 1 Night Riddim (Uninamise Remix) first played on 15 June 2016.

N.Y. music producer Uninamise, is a creative beat junkie and field-recording enthusiast. His tracks swarm from dirty textures, strange sounds and obscured samples.

What began as a type of music accompanying flex—a dance style originating from Brooklyn characterized by elements including bone breaking, gliding, and pausing—has in recent years progressed into a distinct genre. Producers like Uninamise have taken the original essence of flex dance music, originally dense dancehall mixes with layers of riddims and sound effects, and begun writing original compositions with booming 808s, lasers, and chopped vocal samples.

Uninamise’s entry into the Flex Dance Music was first as a dancer, but his first few flex tunes, “Is That Right” especially, resonated hugely with flex dancers. His initial wariness about making flex tunes quickly fell away, and those first productions culminated in his first project ‘Kaviar Addctions’. One of Uninamise’s signatures is his additional chops of samples within tracks, helping push the sound of FDM further.

With dark, murky tones building atmosphere reminiscent of ‘90s jungle, Uninamise has quickly become a pioneer of the FDM genre. Subsequent solo albums ‘Trapbush’, ‘Fate of the Wolves’ have furthered Uninamise’s sound—plus a remix of Endgame’s “1 Night Riddim” on PTP fka Purple Tape Pedigree opened the doors for transatlantic exchange.

Uninamise is currently at work on solo projects, as well as collaborations with fellow FDM pioneer Epic B as Immortal Instruments.
