Mexican record label, Naafi, settle in at NTS for a showcase of the weirdest experimentations in club culture that have bubbled to the surface of Soundcloud. Dazed rhythms converging into Jersey stutters, and tumblr-era trap for two straight hours on a Monday.

Pool-Pah

Pool-Pah

Pool-Pah has been played on NTS shows including Extra Extra, with April Witch first played on 27 July 2018.

Pool-Pah is translated as either “shit storm” or “wraith of God” and its the soundtrack to a movie that was never released. None of that really prepares you for this record though. It starts off with an otherworldly ARP synth solo; Harsh at first, then smoothing out — Immediately fooling you into thinking this is a heavy prog album. Sorry, no dice. Over the next 6 songs we get rock ballads, Yes-esq fusion, slow burning funk, and rambling “hard” rock. Then it closes up with pleasant synth/piano piece featuring that spacey ARP synth and one is left wondering why exactly this movie never saw the light of day.
