R6

R6

R6 has been played on NTS shows including The Spectacular Empire Show w/ Gaika & Mensa, with 4 Days first played on 10 November 2017.

R6 is a 23 year old rapper from Brixton collective 67 who appears destined to have a profound impact on the UK drill scene. 2016 would see the birth of R6’s rapping career, with several starring features on 67 tracks like “Needy” and “Milly Rock Remix” making clear his raw talent at putting bars together. It would not be until December 2016 however that the world would really see what R6 was capable of. “Redrum Reverse” to date has over 10 million views on youtube, no mean feat for a solo debut in a time before the heights of drill today. Despite this more than promising debut, R6’s output has been sporadic since. In 2018, he released a collaborative project with fellow 67 member ST, entitled “Search & Destroy”. Featuring verses from fellow 67 members such as Itch, Dimzy and LD, this 8 track project was the perfect introduction of R6’s ability as a rapper over a project, and suggested that if he could find a more consistent output of releases his future as a successful drill rapper could be secured.
However, this was not to be, with only a handful of features released from R6 in the next couple of years. Thankfully, 2021 sees R6 finally in a position to seize his opportunity with both hands. The release of “Notorious Hill” was a warning shot to the rest of the scene, and it appears that it is only a matter of time before he is established as one of the most exciting upcoming rappers in the UK. Keep an eye out for future R6 releases, because he’s coming to take over.
