Rebecca Moore

Rebecca Moore

Rebecca Moore has been played on NTS shows including Who's That Girl? w/ Leyla Pillai , with Lucifer Rising first played on 29 February 2016.

Rebecca Moore is a musician and actress. Known mostly for being the lover and onetime muse of Jeff Buckley as well as her participation in experimental theater productions and experimental music. She is the daughter of noted art photographer, Peter Moore and his wife, Barbara, an art historian.

Rebecca Moore was born and raised amidst New York's Avant-Garde art scene of the 1970s. She spent many years performing in experimental theater works by artists such as John Jesurun, (including his plays Deep Sleep and Shatterhand Massacre, in the U.S. and Europe), Richard Foreman (I've Got the Shakes), Ridge Theater (notably the Obie-winning Everyday Newt Berman and Jungle Movie), filmmaker/choreographer Jo Andres, Julia Heyward, David Patrick Kelly, Taj Mahal, Clarinda Mac Low and many others. Her own solo performance art work at small venues evolved into full-scale low-budget surrealistic musical theater pieces, labors of love that often included live music. Out of this she developed a band, The Prevention of Blindness. She has two CD releases to her credit and is presently preparing her third for the Oracles series on John Zorn's Tzadik record label.

In recent years Moore has become vocal in several social groups concerned with maintaining the creative and cultural heritage of New York's East Village and Lower East Side communities such as the HOWL Festival, as well as Take It to the Bridge and LOCO (Ludlow-Orchard Community Organization) which Moore founded. She also takes part in actions related to stopping poor communities from being forced out of New York City, such as housing demonstrations and anti-gentrification events.
