The Diggers

The Diggers

The Diggers has been played on NTS in shows including Mixed Fruit w/ Eddie Junior, featured first on 28 March 2018. Songs played include Jazztaker Dub.

There are two Diggers. 1) A Scottish Britpop band. 2) An American psychedelic jam band.

1) The Diggers are a Scottish post-Britpop powerpop band, with a 1997 debut album, Mount Everest. Contents Members Miezitis and Moffatt had attended school together and began playing as an acoustic duo in the early 1990s. In 1991 they moved to Glasgow, and added members Eslick and Ross. After a 1993 car crash, the group was noticed by Martin Carr of The Boo Radleys, who got them signed to Creation Records. They opened for Super Furry Animals on tour in 1997, and released their debut album for Creation, Mount Everest.

The band got their name from the folk tale featured in Billy Bragg's "The World Turned Upside Down", on his 1987 album, Back to Basics.

2) The Diggers were from New Bedford Massachusetts and existed from January 2007 until December 2008. They released two cd's. a self-released Ep entitled " Psychological Dismember" and a Self-Titled full length released on 75 or Less Records on November 1st 2008. A compilation of only a few of the listenable/worth listening to music was put together and put up for free download under the name "The Thin Line Between Two States of Thought" . Members went on to be in bands such as Mother Night and the Boomcats.
