Stone City Band has been played on NTS in shows including LDLDN, featured first on 21 January 2018. Songs played include Love Hassles, Bad Lady and F.I.M.A. (Funk In Mama Afrika).

The backing band for Rick James during his glory years at Motown, Kenny Hawkins, Tom McDermott, Levi Ruffin, Jr., Daniel LeMelle, Jerry Livingston, Jerry Rainer, and Nat Hughes recorded several songs for Gordy under James' direction during the early '80s. None were very successful.
