La Bouche (French for "The Mouth") is a German-American Eurodance duo known for the hits "Be My Lover", "Sweet Dreams", "You Won't Forget Me", and "S.O.S." The group was founded in 1994 by record producer Frank Farian in Frankfurt am Main, who collaborated with techno DJ Ulli Brenner and producer Amir Saraf to create the music, while American singer Melanie Thornton and American rapper and singer Lane McCray served as the front performers.
Thornton and McCray had previously collaborated in music before forming La Bouche. Thornton left the group in 2000 to pursue a solo career. In 2001, she was killed in the Crossair Flight 3597 crash near Zurich, Switzerland. As a tribute, Farian released "In Your Life", a previously unreleased track featuring vocals recorded earlier with Thornton and McCray. In 2002, he released "The Best of La Bouche featuring Melanie Thornton", a compilation album that included Thornton's solo work alongside La Bouche hits.
McCray continues to perform worldwide under the La Bouche name. In 2015, he brought Hungarian-born singer Sophie Cairo into the group as the new official vocalist. A remix titled "Sweet Dreams 2017" was released, featuring vocals from McCray and Cairo.
