Dee C'rell was born in Hackney and grew up in Shoreditch, central London.

He is known as a music composer, pianist, and keyboard player, remixer, producer, DJ, photographer and writer. He works in all forms of electronic and acoustic music.

As an academic, he is a leading expert on contemporary electro-acoustic jazz, and coined the terminology for academic writing and study.
