NEWS 2010: Qwartz Electronic Music Awards: CITIES AND GIRLS cd by Myra Davies nominated in best album category. Hear it (and vote) until March 15, 2010 at www.qwartz/org
Myra Davies is a Canadian spoken word artist who works with Gudrun Gut in Berlin and releases on Gut’s label, Moabit Musik (Berlin)
HISTORY: In mid-80s Vancouver, Davies mentored Skinny Puppy while working as a Producer of International attractions at Expo. After SP introduced her to the music of Neubauten, she brought EN to Expo. They invited her to Berlin where she met Gudrun Gut.
Between 1991 and 2004 as MIASMA, Davies and Gut, released a trilogy of Cds and did several large scale multimedia shows and concert tours.
CURRENTLY: Davies releases under her own name with Gut as producer and music programmer.
CITIES AND GIRLS cd: Davies on the global village with music by Gut, Beate Bartel and the team of Alexander Hacke (EN) and Danielle de Picciotto. Review: http://www.incendiarymag.com/node/1845
THE GIRL SUITE ep (2008) Moabit Musik. Four new tracks with that old Davies/Gut MIASMA vibe. LOVE DEMO is razor attitude and club bass. Gudrun’s remix of DRIILL flips back to 80s Electro-industrial grind. And the other two tracks, VALKYRIE and MY FRIEND SHERRY are equal parts blade and wit.
