Det Gylne Triangel was a norwegian synth band. They issued two singles, "Maskindans b/w Får aldri nok" in March 1982 (featuring guest vocals by Reidunn Lundgren), then "Hula Hula b/w Bengali Radio" followed in September that year. Both singles were produced by Volker Zibell and Torgrim Eggen (both from new wave legends The Cut), but where the first was an innovative, experimental slab of danceable darkness, their second was an attempt at goofy, fun-in-the-sun pop to lead to a commercial breakthrough – according to music paper Puls, it didn’t suffice even as a joke, while Nye Takter were in favour; “ironic and goofy at the same time”, according to their reviewer, who also thought it deserved to be a hit. (It wasn't.)
DGT were a reknowned live act in Oslo and in Southern Norway. In the beginning, they played all synths live, without programming or backing tapes. Later, they would pre-record the electronics to tape, with live bass, brass and vocals added. Most of the time, the duo of Sevaldson and Ødegård were joined by additional musicians on stage, but they also performed as a duo occasionally.
They were based in Oslo and was formed by Anders Sevaldson (kb/sax/voc) and Ola Ødegård (kb/bs/trp/voc). The band went through several line-up changes in their short existance. Other members include Terje Nilsen (gt), Jorum Hafstad (voc), Nils Johan Pedersen (kb) and Pål Ribu (gt).
Det Gylne Triangel existed until 1984, gradually giving way to other projects –notably, Beranek recruited Sevaldson and Ribu for his live band in 1983/4, while Ødegård played keyboards with a late incarnation of Lumbago.
Releases: "Maskindans / Får aldri nok"; 7", Mai Records MAI 64, 1982. (Label states band name as "Det Gyldne Triangel")
"Hula Hula / Bengali Radio"; 7", Studio B BSG 107, 1982.
The song "Maskindans" was featured on the compilation album "Maskindans - Norsk synth 1980-1988" released in 2009 by Hommage Records.
