Code Industry

Code Industry

Code Industry has been played over 10 times on NTS, first on 4 March 2017. Code Industry's music has been featured on 19 episodes.

The band was born out of the ashes of CODE ASSAULT, the seminal Detroit electro-collective that combined the popular techno sound of their hometown with influences picked up from European bands such as FRONT 242, A SPLIT SECOND, NITZER EBB and MEAT BEAT MANIFESTO.

Rob MYERS (Keyboards), Ethan NEP SEVY (Keyboards, Programming), William KEITH (Drums) and Kyl CRIS (Keyboards, Drums, Programming, Vocals) carried on as CODE INDUSTRY, refining and radicalising the initial approach of CODE ASSAULT.

Their first album "Method Of Assembly" meant a successful entry for the band in the world of electronic dance and received considerable critical acclaim, particularly in their home country. On the mini-album "Structure", CODE INDUSTRY further developed their uncompromising musical vision, and with "Young Men Are Coming To Power" the quartet looks set for a major breakthrough.

CODE INDUSTRY is a kaleidoscope of talents, an explosive cocktail of genres. The musical backgrounds of the members ranges from jazz (William) to classical music (Ethan), with Kyl and Rob rounding out the picture, respectively as vocalist and conceptualist. Within a constantly shifting and flexible framework, they combine European beats, industrial undertones, acid basslines and house elements. Once described as the "electronic Living Colour", CODE INDUSTRY feel it is this versatility that gives them ,an advantage over others in their genre.

As an all black electro-band, they tackle a wide spectrum of political and personal issues with a militancy not heard often enough within the complacent world of pop. The quartet's songs deal with racism, hypocrisy, media manipulation, false historiography and the self-proclaimed role of the United States as world leader and all the pretense it entails. Their radical stances are delivered with an uncompromising lyrical brutality.
