The Yummy Fur

The Yummy Fur

The Yummy Fur has been played on NTS in shows including Immediate Hits w/ Dan Russell, featured first on 29 January 2017. Songs played include Shoot The Ridiculant, Always Crashing In The Same Car and Catholic.

The Yummy Fur were an art rock/indie rock band which formed in Glasgow, Scotland in 1992. The band's only constant member was singer/guitarist John McKeown. After the band split in 1999, McKeown drifted through several short lived bands before forming the successful indie rock band 1990s in 2006, and two former members - Paul Thomson and Alex Kapranos - formed the popular alternative rock band Franz Ferdinand. In 2009, it was announced that John McKeown, Paul Thomson and Brian McDougall would reunite The Yummy Fur for a brief tour in 2010.

Their music was rarely appreciated or understood outside of their own extended social group, yet it remains endlessly compelling and intriguing in the same way as all good art is. It is strongly redolent of the time and the place it originated in, but is able to zoom out on the world for added effect.
