David Hayes was born in Colorado and raised in Oklahoma. David was raised in a musical family and learned to play classical piano at the age of 8. At the age of 12, David and his family moved to Ada, OK where he attended Ada High School and recieved his college degree from East Central University.
It was in Ada that David began to play the electric guitar with the help of his dad, Carl Hayes, and friend and future bandmate Russ Collins. David's knowledge of the piano and chord progrssions helped him learn electric guitar theory fairly quickly. In 1998, David partnered with Russ to form the band Reconciliation. After two years of touring and recording, Recinciliation called it quits to pursue individual goals.
During the next few years, David played in a handful of bands with his brother, percussionist Dan Hayes. Keeping with the rock structures they grew up with, David and Dan developed a chemistry in their music and honed their style to include a mix of acoustic melodies.
In 2007, David released his first wide release solo album, "Peace and Waves". A sixteen song LP that not only showcases David's embrace of the surf acoustic music style, but also his classical songwriter background. Since the release of Peace and Waves, David has become a regular at Mammoth Mountain California where he plays at various venues during ski season. It was his exposure there that landed him his first acting role.
Look for David in his co-starring role for the movie "Unchained Melody" due for release Summer 2009. You can learn more about David Hayes at www.unchainedmelodythemovie.com, myspace.com/davehayes13, cdBaby.com, iTunes, or on youtube.com.
