Intersystems

Intersystems

Intersystems has been played on NTS shows including The Synth Hero Show, with Confetti Room first played on 19 September 2016.

Intersystems were a Canadian experimental art and music group, formed in the 1960s in Montreal, featuring the spoken word poetry of Blake Parker and the musique concrete sound experiments of John Mills-Cockell, as well as light installations by Michael Hayden and sculpture by Dik Zander.

The group released a total of three albums: "Number One" (1967), "Peachy" (1967) and "Free Psychedelic Poster Inside" (1968).

Intersystems' third album "Free Psychedelic Poster Inside" originated as an installation piece featuring sculptures, light displays and electronic recordings with Blake Parker's vocals. The recordings accompanying the installation would become the album itself. The installation was displayed at the Mind Excursion Centre in Montreal on July 8, 1968.

Mills-Cockell later formed Syrinx with other musicians. He also went on to release a number of solo albums throughout the 1970's. As a composer, he has produced music for a number of feature films and TV movies. Parker continued performing poetry until he passed away in January 2007. Hayden currently owns "Thinking Lightly", a light-installation company.

Intersystems' albums were originally released on private-pressed vinyl. Three decades later they were re-released on both CD and vinyl by the Streamline and Cortical Foundation labels.
