Dscrd (a.k.a. Discordance) is an electronic music band born in Paris in 2008, and composed of five people. The artistic concerns of our collective mainly focus on the fields of sounscape, sound design, music tools creation and live performance.

Mostly busy with live experiments during the first years of life, dscrd released in 2011 their first Ep on the french Label Dement3d, quickly followed by several tracks on parisian label silicate. And now with the twelfth act of the acclaimed stroboscopic artefacts monad serie, it’s a matter of fact that dscrd has a lot of things to say, and for sure, more is coming soon.

Their aesthetic language is widely centered on the idea of natural shaping. By working on music dramatic and sound morphism, they try to make sense out of a highly varied material. However, sounding natural means also surprising events and noisy mayhem : such kind of music is always hiking between inconsistency and controlled patterns, choosing the way of unusual systems because of their standing research attitude.

Sometimes reaching the dancing point, sometimes in a total experimental approach, also Dscrd live performances are inviting people in a deep and immersive listening experience : powerfull rythms patterns are combined to strictly improvised sound objects without any predefined layout. The music has to be as free as possible to reach this particular state of transe, whatever the borrowed style.

Since they are fascinated by all kind of musical process, dscrd crew is truly interested in all the possible ways of instrument creation : from audio software programming to sound objects collection, from spalisation to sound installations, they are passionate by all the possibles ways for the sound to make sense.
