"Joe Mensah, a singer from the Ghanaian coastal port of Takoradi, joined the Broadway band as a young lad. Moving to nigeria in the early 1960s, he then gained success with Chief Bill Friday's highlife band, contributing to the original version of 'Bosoe' (also spelled 'Bonsue'). He later returned to Broadway, yet another outfit that travelled abroad on Ghana public relations trips. The band evolved into Uhuru Dance Band, but in the late 1960s Joe went on a solo journey to the USA, where he studied at Julliard School of Music and became a producer."
