Nektar

Nektar

Nektar has been played on NTS over 10 times, featured on 11 episodes and was first played on 3 October 2015.

Currently there are two bands who share the name "Nektar". The German rock band Nektar and the Swedish indie rock band Nektar

Nektar, the german band Nektar is probably the most German-like of the Seventies British bands, a fame that owes a lot to the town in which this band was founded (Hamburg) and to their stylistic approach (Assimilated to Krautrock). Nektar was formed in 1969 by Allan Freeman (keyboards & vocals), Roye Albrighton (guitars & vocals), Derek More (bass, Mellotron & vocals) and Ron Howden (drums).

Their earliest albums were hard rock that drew heavily from the space-rock and Pink Floyd styles of the same period. The 70’s gave them the occasion to issue some masterpieces, like for example "A Tab in the Ocean (1972) "Remember the Future" (1973) and "Recycled" (1975). Each is a conceptual album that is a nice blend of melodic guitar and keyboards with a vocal story. "Journey To The Centre Of The Eye" is a mindblowing epic with lots of echoplex guitar and dual Mellotrons which is quite in tune with the Krautrock stuff going on around them, yet is definitely British. "Magic is a Child" had shorter songs and were less less satisfying.

Nektar's entire back catalogue has been re-vamped and remastered and is about to be re-issued in the USA, supported by a tour. A new Studio CD "Book of Days" is targeted for 20th March 2007 release on EMI - Caroline.

The band has recently been joined for their upcoming tour by the bass player Peter Pichl (Running Wild and other bands).

The Swedish Indie Rock Band Nektar

Nektar is a Swedish indie rock band formed in Gothenburg, Sweden. The band consists of Ilean Arvman Nelson (guitar and vocals), Isak Zander (drums), Leo Larsson (guitar), Elliot Axelsson Olsson (bass), and Zion Merking (keyboard and percussion).

The band originated when Ilean Arvman Nelson introduced a song to his friend and drummer, Isak Zander. This collaboration led to the formation of Nektar. As they prepared for their first performance, the duo expanded into a full band with the addition of Leo Larsson on guitar and Elliot Axelsson Olsson on bass. During the summer of 2024, Zion Merking joined the group, contributing as a percussionist and keyboardist.

The members of Nektar, born between 2005 and 2007, had prior experience in various band formations before establishing the group. Nektar has since provided its members with a platform to explore new musical ideas and develop their skills further.

The band's debut single, "Sitt ner (Lilla jag)," was released in early July 2024. The track combines raw and melodic indie rock elements, featuring guitars, bass, and drums. The bridge of the song, which repeats the phrase "stå ut med mig och vänta på mig" ("put up with me and wait for me"), transitions into a slower conclusion.

In September 2024, Nektar released their first album, Magnolia. The album includes some of their most prominent tracks: "Älskar dig (oändligt föralltid)" → "Love You (Endlessly Forever)" "Sitt ner (Lilla jag)" → "Sit Down (Little Me)" "Tidsfördriv" → "Pastime"

As of now, their most successful song has garnered approximately 150,000 streams, marking a significant milestone for a band in its early stages.
