kaleta real name Leon Ligan-Majekodunmi> was born in Porto-Novo in the republic of Benin of Nigerian,Benin and Togolese ancestry….a stone thrown from Lagos where he actually grew up…..during his teenage years Kaleta was very active in masquerade music when he was both dancer and drummer…he finally moved to Nigeria and played guitar with King Sunny Ade,Fela and Femi Kuti,Sir shina Peters to mention but a few…lately he was on world tour with Lauryn Hill…he co-founded Akoya Afrobeat a 13 piece Multi national band based in New york with members from Japan,Usa,Africa ect..where he is frontman ..the band released 2 cds before founding his own band dubbed Zozo Afrobeat..Kaleta wrote and co-wrote all Akoya afrobeat songs and is prominent in politically provacative laced lyrics …his debut cd in 2004…kaleta is currently in studio working on 2 cds to be released in 2010….he is also writing a book on Fela Kuti . for more infos pls visit zozoafrobeat.com
