Terrence Dixon

NTS regular Terrence Dixon has been hosting a show since 22 October 2020. NTS aired an episode dedicated to the music of Terrence Dixon on 6 April 2023. Terrence Dixon has been played on NTS over 120 times, featured on 108 episodes and was first played on 9 February 2011.

Terrence Dixon’s passage into electronic music has been revolutionary to say the least. He began with releases in early 1990’s on Utensil first as Terrence Dixon which then lead to his creation of Population 1 and further collaboration with Detroit’s most renowned electronic music artists. His radical, raw, minimal type of music left people wanting more and lead to further releases on Metroplex and Background Records, just to name a few label icons with which he has established a strong musical relationship. With noted appearances around Europe not to mention his performance at Tresor following the release of From the Far Future in 2000 where he gave a mini live performance followed up with mind-blowing hardcore and ended the night with the deepest minimal you could assemble, classic Detroit Techno.

He continued to produce true cutting edge electronic music, fighting through the struggle making his mark yet again with the release of “Minimalism III” on Background Records which proved to be real and uncompromising.

Dixon announced his retirement from music on April 12th 2014. His brief statement on his Facebook page read: "I'm retired after 20 years of making music. Thank you."
