Drawing on Lukas’s and Mueller’s shared interests in science and Russian literature, and Lukas’s particular obsession with the work of Andrei Tarkovsky, Zerkalo’s music is rooted in electro – the austere synth and rhythm patterns of Mueller are unmistakeable – but gestures towards older and more self-consciously poetic traditions. This is genuine art-fusion inclusive of rock, ethnics, conceptual jazz, flamenco and classic music. The band makes the sound of the music a source of spirits and feelings of the animate nature.
