The Analog Roland Orchestra is Michal Matlak from Munich, Germany, releasing on Pastamusik. "A Big Bunch Of Roland Gear Put Together In One Room And Mixed With A Bit Of Global House Humor Versus Bavarian Lifestyle."
Biography: Michal Matlak, Born 1984 in Bielsko-Biala/Poland, grown up in Chiemgau county at Chiemsee Lakeside. Took around 10 years private violin education. At the age of 15 he was Borded silly by the monophonic string instrument so he bought his first monophonic soundsource, a „Korg MS 20 Synthesizer, with 16 years his first drummachine: „Ronald TR 606“. Since then Michal is a obsessive collector mainly of Roland equipment, analog synthesizers and drummachines from the years 1977 – 1988 (some of his over 30 different machines are regularly in use for productions and live acts). His sophisticated but warm and sometimes challenging arrangements reflect his musical influences reaching from Bob James, Mort Garson to current Electronic Musicians such as Legowelt, Moodymann or Garnier.
Michal resently started to play in public as „The Analog Roland Orchestra“ and was the great discovery in 2008 for Pastamusik, a solid little Vinyl loving label based in Munich. Besides live act at Munichs Glockenbachwerkstatt he already performed a couple of times at the Club “Rote Sonne”, recently toghether with Juan Aktins, as well as at Berlins marvellous BAR 25 and a couple of electronic Festivals along germany and europe. He surprised all of us with the high level of control hes has over his equipments combined with the ability to take his crowd along the way of his musical trip also with his very extrovert performance. He avoids open loops and random try and error in frot of his audience – Michal knows exactly what he does from beginning to the end. Besides House music, he also produces music for documentarys and short films.
