People Like Us has been played on NTS over 20 times, featured on 28 episodes and was first played on 20 March 2015.

There are two groups under the name 'People Like Us':

1) Under the guise of People Like Us, British sound collagist and DJ Vicki Bennett blends samples from music, radio and television in a Cut Up style to form plagiarhythmic" new melodies. A frequent theme of her music is the extraction of familiar snippets of popular music, which are subsequently interrupted or morphed just when the listener has begun to feel comfortable with what they're hearing. This style has been dubbed irritainment. People Like Us has collaborated with musical peers Wobbly and ]Negativland. 2) Then there was also the South African Hi-NRG act around Paul Crossley and Terry Owen that formed out of the ashes of Shiraz. With the additional vocal talents of Cindy Dickinson the group achieved a surprising measure of success in the mid-80's with their "Deliverance" song. The group recorded several songs for which Dickinson received very little money and nothing was signed officially. Later after the initial success of ‘People Like Us’ this would become one of the topics that would tore the relationships of the band to an irreconcilable situation. Disaster struck when Paul Crossley fell gravely ill with Aids at the height of their popularity. Paul Crossley died on 6 August 1989. His death had serious repercussions for People Like Us, as Paul Crossley was seen as the main driving force of the band and this dampened the future progression of the band. Subsequently, People Like Us covered the Shiraz song "Fighting For Our Lives", bringing homage to Crossley. During that period leading up to Crossley's death the situation between Cindy, Terry and Paul soured and Cindy decided not to be involved with future albums. Cindy also fell pregnant with her son Danny and performing and recording would take a back seat for the next couple of years.
