There are several artists named Benzo: 1. an artist from Lithuania, 2. a Japanese rock-pop-ambient band.
1) Richardas Norvila - man in many respects unique. He comes from Lithuania, but at one time traveled around the world and lived a long time abroad. Interested in constructing soundscapes became interested in the early 80's, but approaching it from different sides - first it was improvisational project Sa-Zna, which Norvila engaged, living in Switzerland (1989). Then came the time of joint projects Internat (with R. Lebedev, 1998) and Cisfinitum (with E. Voronovsky, 2003). Recently, he usually works alone under the names Eshak and Benzo. This album is compiled from a variety of archival recordings 1998-1999, the same sound material itself is made entirely of old Soviet electronic instruments such as the Alice-1377, Polivoks Rhythm-2, Estradin-230, Elsita, Youth-21, Maestro, Lel, etc. . Out of production and largely useless, they are still somewhere sold, often at a symbolic price. Interestingly, these fossils and monsters were not only instrumental, but also the ideological foundation of the album. Richardas believes that they are able to generate any sounds of domestic life: rural devastation, construction, landfill, dark basement - in general, all desolate and mysterious. The emotional stories about events on the periphery of the stealth of human life as the author himself defines his own compositions, sound really very frankly.
