Monolith

Monolith

Monolith has been played over 10 times on NTS, first on 24 March 2015. Monolith's music has been featured on 16 episodes.

There are at least sixteen artists with the name "MONOLITH":

1) A solo project of the Belgian electronic music artist & producer Eric Van Wonterghem (ex-Klinik, member of Sonar and Insekt) and started back in 1997. Features a mixture of dark ambient, industrial, and experimental ebm sounds mixed with lots of outboard analog gear.

2) The post-metal Monolith hails from South Philadelphia. Monolith will lull you with its complex and dark instrumentation and then hammer you when you are weak and vulnerable. Epic, expansive sludge metal with post-rock dynamics, reminiscent of bands like Neurosis, Isis, Mouth of the Architect, and Mogwai.

3) Electronic music artist David Barnard who signed to Rephlex records. Warm, fat and beautiful sounds collide with TR beats, reminiscent of AFX, The Tuss, and DMX Krew. Despite rumours, Monolith is not another RDJ moniker.

4) A rap crew from Toronto, Canada. Features acts such as I.R.S., Dan-E-O, Nish Rawks, Grimace Love, and WIO-K.

5) MoNoLith was a Japanese visual kei band from Sendai, formed in June 2006 under the label Emotional Works Studio. The band stood out in the visual kei scene by featuring two vocalists, Ryu (柳) and Keita (ケイタ), which set them apart from many other bands. Alongside them were guitarist Shuhei (シューヘイ), bassist Takafumi (たかふみ), and drummer HAYATO, who also played piano. The band's musical style ranged from upbeat, catchy pop-rock to heavier, metal-infused sounds. This flexibility was mirrored in their visual presentation, blending playful, colorful oshare kei aesthetics with more somber, monochromatic outfits typical of traditional visual kei bands.

After eight years of activity, the band announced their disbandment, with their final performance taking place at Shinjuku BLAZE on August 31, 2014. Following the disbandment, Keita went on to join Mix Speaker's Inc., while Ryu formed a new band called MISUI (ミスイ).

6) A short-lived British death metal quintet featuring Nick Barker on drums.

7) "Monolith" can also refer to soundtracks composed for the computer game company "Monolith" with no corresponding artist credits.

8) "Monolith" is the name of a box set by Death Cube K (an anagram of Buckethead).

9) "Monolith" is a musical project of programmer Jason Rohrer, who has released one album, on APN records, called a curved geometry and available from the Internet Archive.

10) "Monolith" is a metalcore band from Cornwall / Devon, United Kingdom

11) "Monolith" is a blues/rock band from Bulgaria.

12) A New Zealand-based Dark Ambient project specializing in layered, filmic compositions. A necropoliptic study in visceral aural terror and mystery.

13) Canadian Symphonic/Progressive/Melodic Death Metal band

14) A Progressive Metalcore/Djent band from Perth, Western Australia

15) Psychedelic Doom Rock from Bremen, Germany.

16) MØHϴɅITX, an industrial metal project was founded in Niš by Petar Jovanovic and Uros Jovanovic in September 2009. The basic idea is to make music that would rely more on sound, noise/effects and (poly)rhythm than actual lyrics. After 2 years of slow progress, the line-up grew from 2 to 5 members, thus becoming a full fledged band. Their first album release, Fragments, was recorded in 2012.
